Overview


Do you love to capture and control the flow of stories with cuts, visuals effects and sound ? Then buckle up and get ready for Just Cut It, an online video editing competition that allows you to unleash your full creativity in all aspects of video editing.


Event details

  • The event shall be conducted online.

  • The Participants shall be provided with three themes and related stock for creating their video. The themes shall be as follows: -

    • Fast Paced B-roll Style

    • Fashion Commercial

    • Documentary Type

  • The participants are allowed to change the genre/ mood of the video as per their personal choice i.e.: the video can be humorous, formal, funky, stylized, spooky etc.

  • Participants will be tested on their video-editing skills.

  • Students will register individually.

  • Participants will get a set of stock videos approximately 5 days prior to the submission date. They have to edit these creatively using different sound tracks, templates, effects, etc.

  • The event will only be conducted if at least 10 students register for it.

Rules and Regulations

  • All your submissions will be allocated roll numbers i.e. that the judges won't be seeing your name while judging your entry to make it unbiased.

  • The participants are allowed to choose only one theme.

  • The participants may use any editing software of their own choice.

  • The length of the video has to meet the following parameters: -

    • Fast Paced B-roll Style video: 30 – 45 seconds

    • Fashion Commercial: 30 second – 2 minutes

    • Documentary Type: 2 – 3 minutes

  • Participants won't be judged for the time of their video.

  • The participants will not be allowed to include external footage of more than 30 seconds in their respective videos (no external footage allowed in b-roll video). However, they have full creative freedom over the given stock footage.

  • 3D animated / rendered effects or photoshopped versions related to the stock footage are welcome, however such types of edits must be informed about in a word document which is to be submitted along with the footage.

  • Copyrighted music is allowed however appropriate credit should be given to the creator.

  • Watermarked videos shall be allowed however; the watermark should not cover more than one-third of the total screen area as it would hinder the quality of the video/ judgment process.

  • Uniqueness/Creativity

  • Choice of themes, music and templates

  • Complexity of Technology Used/Technical Skills of participant
